Ya’ll! This was the most fun I’ve ever had with The Open! It’s been really stressful for me in the past, but this year we really made it about US, and had a whole hell of a lot of fun with it!

 

It was so great to see you guys supporting each other, talking a little trash, celebrating some personal records, and just seeing how much better you guys have gotten over the years. 

 

We’re coming up on our FIVE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY next week, and several of you guys have been with us almost that long! 

I’ve changed a lot over the last five years, and shifted gears with the business several times, but I’ve never been so happy to be a part of CrossFit as I am this year. 

I love that CrossFit HQ has shifted their focus away from being all about the CrossFit Games, and more towards improving the fitness and health of US…the regular folks with busy lives/families/careers…which is why I got into this in the first place.

 

Back to this year’s Open Season: I saw you guys try new things, push a little harder, lift a little heavier, fail some, succeed some, lose, and win. 

 

And now that it’s over, I’m looking ahead at the rest of the year and wondering “what can I do to help you continue this awesome energy you’ve had for the last 5 weeks?”

 

One of the best parts of CrossFit style training is that that we do so many differentthings. We do bodyweight training like “pullups, TTB, muscleups,” barbell work like “squats, deadlifts, snatches,” and mix all that up with cardio/endurance things like “running, rowing, jump rope.”

 

There’s always something to work on, always something to get better at, but I really feels overwhelming to try to get better at EVERYTHING at the same time. So I want to help you guys narrow down your focus a little bit for the next few months leading up to our next Open in October.

 

I want to give you the opportunity to set a meaningful goal, and the tools to go get it!

Maybe it’s a first pull-up or muscle up.  Maybe it’s a 135lb snatch, or a 400lb Deadlift. How about 30 unbroken double unders? Whatever it is for you, it needs to matter, and it needs to be specific.  Then we can chase it.  It may take longer than you’d like in order to achieve, but I want to celebrate with you when you reach it….so let’s talk about it:-)

 

 

On Monday I’m going to send you guys a two-question survey. Question 1 will ask about YOUR specific thing you’d like to achieve this year. Question 2 will ask you to write down the biggest obstacle in your way.

 

So be thinking about that this weekend. Then take 5 minutes next week and fill it out. Those 5 minutes could fuel your next 5 months.
