Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. What's the difference between CrossFit as a "Strength and Conditioning Program," and "Competitive CrossFit"?

MOST of what we do in here at BootHeel CrossFit is "Strength and Conditioning." It's a training program designed to make you stronger, faster, leaner, more athletic, healthier, more capable in your everyday life, etc...

The CrossFit style and model gives you a lot of variation that keeps you constantly progressing, and also keeps you from getting bored. CrossFit has also "gamified" fitness and exercise to add a level of fun to your workouts.

On the other hand, "Competitive CrossFit" is what you may have seen on TV with The CrossFit Games. If you make the comparison to the NBA, we are just playing streetball here in Sikeston.

Competitive CrossFit is always for a score, and uses certain events intended to test different fitness modalities, to crown a winner who has the best average across the 10 different fitness domains:

1. cardiovascular/respiratory endurance

2. stamina

3. strength

4. flexibility

5. power

6. speed

7. agility

8. balance

9. coordination

10. accuracy

..........................................................

To sum it up neatly, we do both. CrossFit is a TRAINING PROGRAM for the most part, with occasional testing events to gauge your fitness level and progress.
